The Seated Buddha

This stucco Buddha statue is thought to have been excavated from the Hadda archeological site in Afghanistan. With traditional daie robes draped across its shoulders, the statue sits on a pedestal in a lotus position. Its eyes half open, the Buddha gazes downards, conveying a state of peaceful meditation.

Two important features are the way its hair is twisted into slightly large rahotsu curls, and the clothes on its back being fully represented without omission.
